Phantom

Do you ever feel phantom touches?
For instance, a hand that grazes the lower back and remains there faintly for weeks on end.
Only in memory perhaps
But if you concentrate hard enough, you can recall the precise pressure and the accompanying heat in your cheeks.
It can be equated to the memory of your favorite meal or your fondest memory.
Think now, can you still taste your mother's pot roast or the wonders of French butter on your tongue?
What sounds did the cobblestones make under your feet that night?
You know.
You remember.
You can still feel it.
That's how I feel.
You must understand.
I don't want to understand.
