About Time

I don't quite know how it came to be but somehow, 2:30 am has turned itself into my favorite time of day to write.
I have a defined pattern to my evenings now.

I get home from class, do some homework, and maybe make some dinner.
Eventually I make the trek over to the 2 East 8th dorms and hang out with the boys or the whole group if everyone is free. This usually just means watching five or so episodes of Breaking Bad straight. I have a problem; I know.

Around 1:30 or so, I will loudly announce my intent to go home. I will then sit back down and stall for another half hour while the boys discuss Reddit jokes (that I only vaguely care about).
Around 2, I will finally crawl into my bed, only to realize that I need to get back up and wash my face, take my contacts out, and brush my teeth.
When I finally settle back into bed, if and only if I have any decent ideas, I will take out my laptop and start to write.

I think I write best in the middle of the night because of how quiet it is. By now, everyone in my apartment has gone to bed or just settled down and I can focus. I also think it has to do with sheer exhaustion. When I'm this tired, it seems that only the most important words come to mind. I don't really do re-writes on these posts because I like the urgency and honesty of free-writing. Having a mindset that aids this method is essential.

I realize that this post has nothing very groundbreaking or thought provoking in it. Actually, I kind of just handed you my daily routine for fun (that may have been weird). I just thought that seeing as I write a lot about things that seem bigger than me in a personal way, I should share some things that are as small as me as well.

Or maybe I'm just tired. It is just after 2:30 am after all.
