day one. (explanation and a poem)

So I'm trying something new here. This blog has become the prefect place for trying new things. That being said, I am now home for the remainder of the year and then some because of Columbia College's extended winter break so I've decided do document a little something from every day spent at home. It may be a writing piece or a list or an image...that part I haven't quite figured out yet. This is what I wrote yesterday. I didn't write it until very late and didn't have time to post it so you will get both day one and two in the same day.

Without further pause:

day one.

i love the
       sickly orange-gray
color of the sky
       when it snows
it's a color
i've never been able to replicate
--only seen
      in tired winter skies

i spilled hot tea
      on the rug tonight
i hope no one notices
      until someone else
buys the house
      and then,
it will be too late.
