Testing a Theory in Gratitude

In order to fully understand the theory I am about to test, watch this video first. If you don't currently have the 7ish minutes required to view the full thing, feel free to scroll down and read my thoughts anyways (but come back to it when you do have the time because it's a terribly interesting concept and may or may not make you tear up while smiling a lot).
The theory described here is the idea that the more gratitude we show, the happier we become as people. In order to illustrate this, the subjects of this study were asked to write about the person they feel had the biggest positive influence on them. They were then asked on the spot to call these people and read them what they had wrote.

So here goes nothing.

Hannah, you are a constant in my life no matter where we go. There's this idea that if a friendship lasts more than 7 years, it is likely to last a lifetime. I really hope that's true because here we are in year 8 and  it's like the tablecloth just got pulled out from under us. Despite our physical distance, I don't feel that much has changed. I love to hear how school is going for you even though I knew you would thrive. You are such a strong person and always have been. I wish I was half the sister you are. I hope that when we are back home together, we still finish each other's sentences even though we might not know the stories about to come. I don't know if I would have been able to survive four years at Salem High School without you. Honestly, I think you are the only reason I didn't fight harder to transfer. I liked that we didn't need to be attached at the hip to live our lives but we had the option anyways. There was never any animosity in our relationship. Instead we continue to support each other because we know exactly when we are selling ourselves short and we won't stand for that sort of shit. I just wanted you to know I still consider you such an important person in my life and I don't see that changing any time soon. I thought you might like to hear that.

To anyone who is reading this right now, please test this theory. Go write to the ones you admire and tell them how thankful and inspired you are because of them. It's completely worth it.
